2018 Honduras Newsletter

It is interesting how God’s network works. I have been blessed through the past 17 years to travel to many places with Godly leaders both men and women. I have invited many to join F2F in the mission field. Those that answered the call received a blessing in serving our Lord.

This past December a dear friend [R] that has served in Africa and Asia invited me to join her in Honduras. The mission was to build a home for a very deserving National Pastor. This young Pastor and his growing family had been living in a Sunday School Classroom for the past 4 years.

Now he had saved up enough money to buy his own land and prepare the foundation for the house to be built on. Our team were the ones that would build a 19×25 house on this foundation.

I joined a team of 8 men and 5 women from two different churches from two different cites. Packing my bag and leaving Fayetteville 3:30am in 30 Degrees weather then arriving Tegucigalpa at noon in 100 degrees was indeed a system shock to this Tar Heel. Coats came off and sleeves rolled up, and so it begins.

This construction mission trip was under the control of the NCBM. Mike & Ginger Greene were our host and on-site coordinators at “Mount Horeb Baptist Camp” at Pavana, Choluteca, Honduras.

Mike and Ginger have been in Honduras for over 5 years. Mike had given up a very influential 6- figured pharmaceutical job to serve the Lord full time in Honduras.

Our daily routine; up early for devotions, breakfast, pack personal items [food and water], load tools and supplies for the day then drive 45 minutes to village of Marcovia, the construction site.

Coming back to the camp we were met with smoldering trees and brush, there had been a fire, adjacent to the camp.

Just before we left there was another wild fire on the hill behind the camp that came down into the camp. No damage to the camp, but it scared a few people.

Indeed this short trip to Honduras was a blessing. Traveling with 13 brothers and sister in Christ that became close friends is certainly an added blessing.
